Beating the heat

(7/18/2006) With exceptionally high temperatures in store today, Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. is encouraging residents to take advantage of splash pads, open pools and neighborhood relief.

The Department of Parks operates splash pads at the locations listed below. Those with an asterisk run continuously until 8 p.m. tonight. Others can be activated upon demand.

*Edgewood Park

*Lighthouse Point Park

*View Street

Ann Street

Trowbridge Square (Carlisle Street)

Jocelyn Square (near Humphrey’s restaurant)

Kensington Street (in Dwight neighborhood)

South Genessee

Also, four pools are in operation today at:

Hill Regional Career High School

John S. Martinez School

James Hillhouse High School

Cross High School

Sprinkler heads also are available at police substations through the district managers.
